Farewell to Jean Newton

On Thursday, 16th June 2016 , Jean moved from this side of the veil to the other. Jean died quietly in her sleep at Furness General Hospital at the age of 90. She was tired. She was ready to 'go home'. Jean's funeral was on a very rainy Wednesday, 29th June at the Wall End Chapel and then at the Thorncliffe Cremetorium. The family asked that the retiring offering go towards the chapel's building fund, and we thank those who donated into the £210 that was received.

We celebrate Jean's life with thankfulness; a life lived in service, teaching, hospitality and determination. We shall miss her, but live in hopes of seeing her (along with Arthur) before God's Throne.

Life Goes On

by Joyce Grenfell

If I should go before the rest of you,

Break not a flower nor inscribe a stone,

Nor when I'm gone speak in a Sunday voice,

But be the usual selves that I have known.

Weep if you must,

Parting is hell.

But life goes on,

So ... sing as well.
